The Bristol Brigand was a twin-engine strike aircraft developed from the Beaufighter lineage — designed as a torpedo fighter for the Pacific War but arriving too late, then converted to the ground attack role in which it served during the Malayan Emergency, flying rocket and bomb attacks against communist guerrilla positions in the Malayan jungle. The TF.Mk.I was the torpedo fighter variant with which the Brigand entered service before the Pacific War ended, and its powerful Bristol Centaurus engines and robust airframe made it a capable if demanding aircraft. Valom’s 1/72 kit captures the original torpedo fighter configuration of this under-modelled British strike aircraft.
The Beaufighter’s successor, built for the Pacific — Bristol Brigand TF.Mk.I in 1/72 scale.
