The Bristol Buckingham B.1 was the bomber variant of the Buckingham — a twin-Centaurus fast medium bomber designed to replace the Blenheim with a much higher performance aircraft capable of outrunning fighter interception. By the time the Buckingham B.1 entered production in 1944, the strategic bombing campaign had moved well beyond the medium bomber, and only a small number of B.1 aircraft were completed before production shifted to the C.Mk.I courier conversion. The B.1 represents a classic case of a well-designed aircraft arriving after the requirement had changed. Valom’s 1/72 kit captures the original bomber variant in its intended configuration.
