USS Smith (DD-17) was a Paulding-class destroyer of the United States Navy — one of the early flush-deck destroyers that formed the backbone of American destroyer forces in the years before and during the First World War, armed with torpedo tubes and guns for both anti-surface and coastal patrol work. The Paulding class represented a significant step forward in American destroyer design and the ships of the class served extensively in the Atlantic during the First World War on convoy escort and patrol duties. Very Fire’s 1/350 kit captures USS Smith in the compact scale suited to fleet displays and naval diorama building alongside battleships and cruisers of the period.
