The Grumman XF5F-1 Skyrocket was a twin-engine carrier fighter prototype of the early 1940s, remarkable for its compact fuselage set well back behind the engines and its heavy armament. Only one prototype was built, but it influenced thinking about twin-engine naval fighter design. Academy's 1/48 scale kit captures this unusual aircraft's distinctive profile with authentic USN markings and good cockpit detail.
