Airfix’s 1/72 scale Heinkel He 111 H-6 (A07007C) depicts a later version of one of the Luftwaffe’s most recognisable twin-engine bombers. The He 111 began as a pre-war design and became a familiar sight over Europe during the Second World War, including the Battle of Britain, though those earlier operations involved other variants as well as the wider H series.
The H-6 brought changes that enabled the aircraft to carry torpedoes for attacks on shipping alongside its conventional bombing role. Its broad glazed nose and distinctive wing shape make the He 111 an unmistakable subject in a WWII aircraft collection, while the maritime-strike role gives this particular variant a story beyond the bomber’s best-known campaigns.
