The Kawanishi E15K1 Shiun (Violet Cloud) was an advanced Japanese Navy reconnaissance floatplane of the Second World War, designed to be fast enough to escape interception by jettisoning its single central float after take-off. The concept proved troublesome in practice. Aoshima's 1/72 kit captures this technically ambitious and visually distinctive floatplane with authentic IJN markings. A genuinely unusual subject for collectors of Japanese naval aviation.
