The P-400 was the export designation of the P-39D built for the RAF, many of which were diverted to USAAF units after America entered the war. At Guadalcanal in 1942, P-400s of the 67th Fighter Squadron flew hazardous ground attack missions against Japanese positions — unable to reach the altitude needed to intercept bombers, they were pressed into close support work instead. Arma Hobby's 1/48 kit captures the P-400 in its Guadalcanal configuration with authentic USAAF markings.
