The FM-2 was General Motors' lightweight, improved development of the Wildcat, optimised for operations from small escort carriers with a taller fin, more powerful Wright Cyclone engine, and reduced armament for weight savings. It became the definitive Wildcat variant for close air support and convoy protection in the Atlantic and Pacific. Arma Hobby's 1/72 kit captures the FM-2's distinctive tall fin and engine cowling with authentic USN markings.
