The M24 Chaffee entered US Army service in late 1944 as a much-needed replacement for the obsolete M5 Stuart, offering a larger 75mm gun in a lighter, faster hull. It saw its first combat in the Ardennes and served extensively in the Pacific theatre, and remained in widespread service with NATO and allied armies well into the Cold War — seeing action in Korea, Vietnam, and numerous post-colonial conflicts. Its combination of speed, reliability, and adequate firepower made it one of the most successful light tanks of the 20th century. This ForeArt 1/72 kit (2003) captures the Chaffee's elegant lines and distinctive twin-bogie suspension.
