The Fairey Barracuda was the Royal Navy's first all-metal monoplane torpedo bomber, entering service in 1943 as a replacement for the biplane Swordfish and Albacore. The Mk II was the most-produced variant, and it is best remembered for the audacious April 1944 strike on the German battleship Tirpitz in Kaafjord, Norway — a raid in which Barracudas scored 14 direct bomb hits. Ungainly in appearance, with its large Fairey-Youngman flaps and high-set tailplane, it was nonetheless an effective and capable aircraft. This vintage Frog 1/72 kit (F230) captures the Barracuda's unmistakeable silhouette.

This is a vintage model kit. Box shows signs of age-related storage — see photos. Kit appears complete, but please look at the photos carefully. Instructions and decals are present.
