The Fairey Gannet served the Royal Navy in multiple roles throughout its career — as the A.S. variants hunted submarines with its remarkable Double Mamba contra-rotating turboprop, the T.2 trained crews, and the later AEW.3 variant carried a large radar dome under its fuselage to provide airborne early warning from HMS Hermes and Ark Royal until 1978. The loss of fixed-wing AEW capability when Ark Royal decommissioned in 1979 was later felt acutely during the Falklands War. This vintage Frog 1/72 kit (F331) represents a later boxing of the Gannet subject.
This is a vintage model kit. Box shows signs of age-related storage — see photos. Kit appears complete, but please look at the photos carefully. Instructions and decals are present.
