The LTV A-7 Corsair II was a subsonic carrier-based attack aircraft developed from the F-8 Crusader and entering US Navy service in 1967, in time to fly combat missions over Vietnam from the very start of its operational career. The A-7A was the initial production variant, powered by a Pratt & Whitney TF30 turbofan. The type went on to serve with the US Air Force, the Hellenic Air Force, and the Portuguese Air Force, and was still operational in the first Gulf War. This vintage Frog 1/72 kit (F260) captures the Corsair II's distinctive short, rotund fuselage and straight wing.
