The Fairey Swordfish is one of the most improbable success stories in aviation history — a fabric-covered biplane that was already obsolete on its 1936 entry to service, yet outlasted the modern aircraft designed to replace it. The Swordfish sank more Axis shipping than any other Allied aircraft, crippled the Italian fleet at Taranto in 1940, and fatally slowed the Bismarck with a torpedo hit that jammed her rudder. Its low stall speed actually made it effective against warships with fast-tracking AA guns. This vintage Frog 1/72 kit (F258) captures the beloved "Stringbag" in its Mk I torpedo-carrying configuration. Presented in film-sealed packaging.
This is a vintage model kit. Box shows signs of age-related storage — see photos. The box is still film sealed but the film has splits. The box also shows dishing. Kit appears complete, but please look at the photos carefully. Instructions and decals are present.
