Mazda 767B: 1989 Daytona 24-Hour Race
Capture a distinctive chapter of Japanese endurance racing with Hasegawa's 1/24 scale Mazda 767B, depicting the 1989 Daytona 24-Hour Race subject. Its low prototype silhouette makes a striking contrast to road-based racing cars in a motorsport collection.
Mazda's rotary racing story
The 767B formed part of Mazda's pursuit of endurance-racing success with rotary power. Its four-rotor engine offered a very different soundtrack and engineering approach from the conventional piston engines used by many rivals, giving Mazda's sports prototypes a character all their own.
Developed from the 767, the 767B belongs to the late-1980s phase of a programme that would ultimately lead to Mazda's celebrated Le Mans victory with the 787B in 1991. It is an earlier chapter in that story, not the Le Mans-winning car itself.
A full day at Daytona
Daytona's combination of steeply banked speedway sections and an infield road course made its 24-hour race a demanding test of speed, reliability and teamwork. Through daylight, darkness and the changing rhythm of traffic, drivers and crews had to balance outright pace with the need to keep the car running for an entire day.
