The Tiger II (Königstiger) with Porsche turret represents one of the most distinctive variants of Germany's heaviest production tank. The 50 Porsche turrets — originally intended for the rejected Porsche VK4502 chassis — were fitted to early Henschel production hulls as they were already manufactured, resulting in the distinctive rounded turret shape familiar from photographs of Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503 in Normandy.
