The Rheinmetall-Borsig Waffenträger was a late-war German tank destroyer concept designed to mount a heavy anti-tank gun on a lightweight tracked carrier — a weapon platform rather than a conventional armoured vehicle. The open fighting compartment housed either the 8.8cm Pak 43 or 10.5cm leFH 18/40 gun on a fully traversable mount, giving the small crew significant firepower with minimal steel. Only a handful of prototypes were completed before the war's end, making the Waffenträger one of the more obscure and fascinating what-ifs of German late-war AFV development. I Love Kit's 1/35 kit captures the distinctive open-top layout and angular gun mounting of this rare prototype.
