The observation turret variant of the Pz.II Ausf.a2 replaced the standard armament with a fixed cupola fitted with vision devices, creating an artillery observation and command vehicle that could accompany armoured formations and direct fire support without exposing its occupants to small arms fire. The distinctive non-rotating observation turret gives this variant a quite different silhouette from the gun-armed variants, and it represents the diverse range of roles that the versatile Pz.II chassis was adapted to serve. A specialist variant for modellers wanting something genuinely different within the Pz.II family.
