The twin 20mm Oerlikon-armed Crusader AA offered a higher rate of fire than the single Bofors variant — the twin cannon turret capable of putting a devastating volume of explosive rounds into the path of low-flying aircraft. Both Crusader AA variants served alongside each other, giving Allied armoured formations layered air defence with complementary capabilities. The twin Oerlikon turret gives this kit a distinctly different and more aggressive silhouette than the Bofors variant, and the two make natural display partners that illustrate the full range of Crusader AA development. IBG's 1/72 kit presents this variant with authentic markings from units that provided air defence cover during the Italian and North-West Europe campaigns.
The twin-cannon AA Crusader — perfect paired with the Bofors variant for a complete AA display.
