The Gotha Go 242 was the Luftwaffe's standard assault glider of the Second World War — a twin-boom, high-wing transport glider capable of carrying 21 fully equipped troops or equivalent freight, towed to its release point by a powered aircraft before gliding silently to a landing zone. The Go 242 served in the Crete operation, on the Eastern Front, in North Africa, and in supply missions to isolated German garrisons, its large cargo hold allowing it to deliver loads that parachute drops could not manage. IBG's 1/72 kit of the Go 242A-1 is accompanied by an extensive range of 3D-printed detail upgrades that allow builders to push the model to an exceptional standard — a glider kit with a depth of aftermarket support that is unusual at this scale.
