The V3000SM Maultier was the standard halftrack variant, with the enclosed cargo body retained from the wheeled V3000S but mounted on the halftrack running gear. It carried the same general service loads as its wheeled counterpart but could reach positions that the wheeled truck simply couldn't, making it invaluable on the Eastern Front's appalling road network. The V3000SM and 917t represent slightly different approaches to the same problem — the detailed differences in running gear and body fitting giving collectors within the Maultier family genuine variant variety to model.
