Roland de la Poype was one of the French pilots who flew with the legendary Normandie-Niémen Regiment on the Eastern Front — French volunteers who flew Soviet aircraft alongside the Red Air Force against the Luftwaffe, building one of the most remarkable cross-national fighting partnerships of the war. De la Poype flew the Yak-9T with its powerful 37mm nose cannon, a weapon capable of destroying tanks as well as aircraft, and his personal aircraft is one of the most storied of the Normandie-Niémen machines. ICM's 1/32 kit of de la Poype's specific aircraft brings together the French connection, the Eastern Front, and one of the most distinctive Soviet fighters in a single personally significant boxing.
