The Gulaschkanone — "goulash cannon" — was the German soldier's irreverent nickname for the field kitchen that provided hot food to front-line troops in all weathers and conditions. The horse-drawn or vehicle-towed field kitchen was one of the most important pieces of equipment in any army, and the German Heeresfeldüche (Army Field Kitchen) was a well-engineered and efficient cooker that could provide hot meals for a company in field conditions. ICM's kit of the AHN-mounted Gulaschkanone provides the vehicle-mounted version, ready to bring a functioning kitchen to any diorama and represent the unglamorous but essential logistics of keeping an army fed in the field.
The soldiers called it the goulash cannon — the German mobile field kitchen that kept the Wehrmacht fed from Poland to the Caucasus.
