ICM 1/72 Fw 189A-2 WWII German Reconnaissance Plane (72292)

The Focke-Wulf Fw 189A-2 was the definitive production reconnaissance variant of the distinctive twin-boom Uhu, differing from the A-1 in its twin-gun rear turret replacing the single-gun mounting of the earlier version. Serving extensively on the Eastern Front where its exceptional all-round visibility made it invaluable for tactical reconnaissance, the Fw 189 became the German Army's preferred observation platform over the vast open landscapes of Russia and Ukraine. Soviet pilots found the Uhu surprisingly difficult to shoot down, its manoeuvrability and the difficulty of attacking the unusual twin-boom layout from any angle giving it an unexpected survivability in the reconnaissance role.
