The Scottish Aviation Bulldog T.1 served as the RAF’s standard ab initio trainer from 1973 through to the mid-1990s, equipping university air squadrons and basic flying training schools across the UK. Aerobatic, responsive, and forgiving enough for inexperienced pilots, the Bulldog gave thousands of RAF students their first solo flights and their first experience of formation flying and aerobatics. A fondly remembered trainer that represents an important chapter in postwar RAF pilot training history.
