"Nuts." General McAuliffe's one-word reply to the German demand for Bastogne's surrender has become one of the most quoted exchanges of the Second World War, and the 101st Airborne's defence of the town in December 1944 one of the most celebrated actions in American military history. Surrounded, undersupplied, and fighting in conditions of extreme cold, the Screaming Eagles held Bastogne for eight days until Patton's relief column broke through on 26 December. Master Box's 1/35 scale set captures the 101st in the improvised winter clothing and equipment of the siege: greatcoats, white camouflage, and the weapons of paratroopers fighting as conventional infantry in a perimeter that couldn't afford to shrink.
"Nuts." — Master Box's 1/35 US 101st Airborne at Bastogne, December 1944.
