Matchbox 1/76 A-34 Mk-1 Comet (PK-72)

The Comet was the best British tank of the Second World War — and one of the great what-ifs of the conflict. Developed from the Cromwell to mount a high-velocity 77mm gun capable of defeating the Panther at combat ranges, the Comet finally gave British armoured units the firepower they had lacked for most of the war. It entered service in December 1944, too late to influence the campaign significantly, but performed with distinction in the final advance into Germany in 1945. Fast, well-armed, and mechanically reliable, the Comet was the tank the British army had needed since 1942, and its late arrival was a source of considerable frustration to the crews who had struggled through Normandy in under-gunned Cromwells and Shermans.
