The A39 Tortoise was Britain's most ambitious tank design of the Second World War — a 78-tonne assault tank so heavily armoured that it was virtually impenetrable from any angle, mounting a 32-pounder gun capable of destroying any known vehicle at combat range. Conceived for the assault on the Siegfried Line, it arrived too late to see combat, and only six were ever built. The Tortoise's extraordinary bulk and unique profile make it one of the most visually striking vehicles of any era, and Meng's 1/35 kit does full justice to its sheer presence — an exceptional choice for collectors who appreciate the roads-not-taken of armoured warfare history.
