The Medium Mark A Whippet was British tank development's second act — designed to exploit the gaps torn in enemy lines by the slower heavy tanks, its speed of 8mph made it the fastest tank on the Western Front when it appeared in 1918. It played a notable role at Amiens in August 1918, where a single Whippet, Musical Box, rampaged behind German lines for nine hours before being destroyed, causing chaos disproportionate to a single vehicle. Meng's 1/35 Whippet captures its distinctive fixed superstructure, four-cylinder engine housing, and multiple machine gun turrets with the precision this unusual and historically important vehicle deserves.
