The German field kitchen — the Gulaschkanone (goulash cannon) in soldiers' slang — was one of the most important pieces of equipment in any Wehrmacht formation, and mounting it on a truck transformed it from a static installation into a mobile catering unit capable of keeping pace with motorised columns. The 3.6-36S truck-mounted Feldküche of the PmQ600 type served with German forces across all theatres, providing the hot food that was as essential to morale as ammunition was to the fight.
