Between engagements, a tank crew's work was never done. Replenishing ammunition, refuelling, checking track tension, clearing blocked air filters, reporting faults to the maintenance section — the routine maintenance of an armoured vehicle in the field was a constant and demanding occupation that fell entirely on the crew.
