Europe between the wars produced a new phenomenon: the ordinary working family on holiday. Improved wages, the growth of paid leave, and the spread of the motor car combined to put ordinary people on beaches, at lakesides, and in mountain resorts that had previously been the preserve of the wealthy. MiniArt's "Holidaymakers" set captures this interwar leisure culture — figures in the swimwear, summer dresses, and casual clothing of 1930s Europe — sunbathing, playing, watching the world go by. Used in a diorama alongside period vehicles or seaside architecture, this set creates the vivid contrast between the carefree pre-war world and the conflict that was approaching, or simply provides the civilian texture that turns any European scene into a believable inhabited place.
