The Harley-Davidson WLA — the "A" denoting Army specification — was produced in enormous numbers for the Allied war effort, with over 90,000 delivered to U.S. and Allied forces by the end of the war. Used for dispatch riding, convoy escort, reconnaissance, and military police work, the WLA was a ubiquitous presence wherever American forces operated.
