The Honda Civic EF9 was one of the defining cars of Japanese Group A touring car racing — a front-wheel-drive compact that punched well above its weight class through meticulous preparation and the engineering philosophy that Honda brought to every motorsport programme it entered. The JACCS-sponsored EF9 was a front-runner in the 1992 Japan Touring Car Championship, its distinctive blue and white livery one of the most recognisable in a grid that also included the bigger, more powerful rear-wheel-drive machines it was regularly beating on circuit.
