The Focke-Wulf Ta-154 Moskito was Germany's answer to the de Havilland Mosquito — a fast, twin-engine night fighter developed in 1943 to intercept RAF Bomber Command's night offensive over the Reich. Designed by Kurt Tank, the Ta-154 used a wooden construction technique similar to its British counterpart to conserve strategic metals, and showed considerable promise in early trials. The programme was derailed by a factory fire that destroyed stocks of the specialist Tego-Film adhesive used in its wooden construction — substitute adhesives caused structural failures in service aircraft, leading to the programme's abandonment in 1944 with only a handful of aircraft completed. It remains one of the Luftwaffe's most interesting and least-known might-have-beens. PM Model's 1/72 kit covers this rare subject accessibly.
