RS Models’ 1/72 scale Nakajima Ki-201 Karyu model kit explores an ambitious Japanese jet fighter project from the closing stages of the Second World War. Kit 92274 includes grey and clear plastic parts and waterslide decals, offering an unusual subject for modellers interested in unbuilt aircraft and alternative-history aviation.
Named Karyu, meaning “Fire Dragon”, the Ki-201 was conceived as a twin-engine fighter and attack aircraft influenced by Germany’s Messerschmitt Me 262. It was a separate project from Nakajima’s smaller Kikka, with development undertaken for the Japanese Army. The war ended before the aircraft could be completed or flown, so any depiction in operational service represents a “what-if” rather than a historical combat aircraft.

Unless otherwise stated these models will need some construction and painting. Glues and paints are not included.
