The Sd.Kfz. 7/1 was the self-propelled anti-aircraft variant of Germany's eight-tonne half-track, mounting the 20mm Flakvierling 38 — four 20mm cannon on a single mounting with a combined rate of fire of 1,400 rounds per minute — on the modified flatbed of the standard prime mover. Used for the protection of armoured columns against low-level air attack, the Flakvierling was equally devastating against soft-skinned vehicles and infantry when used in the ground role, and Allied pilots learned to respect its formidable short-range anti-aircraft capability. Tamiya's 1/35 kit captures this important and visually striking vehicle.
