The M4A3 was the US Army’s preferred Sherman variant for its own use — powered by the Ford GAA V8 gasoline engine, which was considered more reliable and easier to maintain than the alternatives fitted to export models. Armed with the 75mm M3 gun in the early-production configuration covered by Tamiya’s kit, the M4A3 served across all theatres and formed the backbone of US Army armoured strength through the final campaigns in Europe and the Pacific. Tamiya’s 1/35 kit captures the mid-production M4A3 with the detail quality that makes their Sherman family consistently popular with armour modellers.
