The Valentine was the most numerically important British tank of the Second World War — a reliable, well-armoured infantry tank that served in North Africa, the Soviet Union (under Lend-Lease in large numbers), the Pacific, and in Italy. The Mk. II introduced a more powerful AEC engine and Mk. IV substituted a General Motors diesel, both improvements on the original Mk. I. While its 2-pounder gun became inadequate as German armour thickened, the Valentine’s mechanical reliability and crew-friendly design made it popular with those who served in it. Tamiya’s 1/35 kit covers both sub-variants in one box.
