The Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4/7 Trop brings the Emil to the Western Desert in 1/72 scale — the tropical filter protecting the supercharger intake from the abrasive sand of the Libyan desert, and the personal survival equipment and desert markings of JG 27 and other Luftwaffe units supporting the Afrika Korps. The E-4/7 sub-variant's DB 601N engine and detail improvements over the earlier E-4 give the modeller the definitive Desert Emil configuration, and the contrast between the European camouflage schemes and the sand-and-green tropical schemes provides excellent marking variety. Tamiya's 1/72 kit is a precise and well-detailed tooling of this popular variant.
