The North American F-100 Super Sabre was the USAF’s first operational supersonic fighter, entering service in 1954 and serving as the backbone of Tactical Air Command through the late 1950s and 1960s. The Super Sabre pioneered the operational techniques that would define supersonic fighter tactics, and later served in Vietnam as a dedicated ground attack aircraft with the Wild Weasel anti-radar suppression mission. Lindberg’s 1957 kit captures the Super Sabre at the height of its early Cold War fame — one of a series of contemporary jet fighter kits that Lindberg produced in parallel with the aircraft’s actual service entry.
