HMS Astute is the lead boat of the Royal Navy’s most capable class of nuclear-powered attack submarines — 7,400 tonnes submerged, Spearfish torpedoes and Tomahawk cruise missiles, and the Sonar 2076 system considered the most capable submarine sonar in service anywhere in the world. The Astute class represents a step change in British submarine capability, incorporating a nuclear reactor that never needs refuelling for the life of the boat and a weapons system that can engage targets at sea and on land at ranges of over 1,000 miles. This pre-painted version arrives with hull already finished, reducing preparation time for display. Trumpeter’s 1/350 kit captures the Astute class in accurate external detail.
