HMS Zulu was a Tribal-class destroyer — one of the Royal Navy’s most powerful pre-war destroyer design, built for fleet work rather than convoy escort and armed with eight 4.7-inch guns in twin turrets that gave them a surface armament comparable to many light cruisers. Tribal-class destroyers served in some of the most intense naval actions of the war, and HMS Zulu participated in operations in the Mediterranean and off the North African coast before being sunk in 1942. Trumpeter’s 1/700 kit captures her in her 1941 configuration — a fine-scale model of one of the most handsome destroyer classes ever built for the Royal Navy.
