USS Tennessee BB-43 was a Tennessee-class battleship that survived the Pearl Harbor attack with relatively minor damage and was rebuilt into a thoroughly modernised fire support battleship almost unrecognisable from her original configuration — the cage masts and old superstructure replaced with a modern tower bridge, the anti-aircraft armament vastly increased, and the hull blisters added that gave her a broader beam. She served as a shore bombardment ship at Attu, Kwajalein, Eniwetok, Guam, Tinian, Leyte, Lingayen Gulf, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa — present at virtually every major Pacific amphibious operation of the war. Trumpeter’s 1/700 kit captures her in the 1944 rebuilt configuration.
