Trumpeter’s 1/72 scale Sturer Emil model kit recreates one of Germany’s most unusual heavy tank destroyers of the Second World War. Kit 07210 depicts the 12.8cm-armed self-propelled gun and includes plastic parts, vinyl components and waterslide decals, offering a distinctive subject for a German armour collection.
Built on an extended Henschel VK 30.01(H) chassis, the Sturer Emil carried a powerful 12.8cm L/61 gun in an open-topped fighting compartment. Only two vehicles were completed, known as “Max” and “Moritz”, and both were deployed on the Eastern Front in 1942. Unlike an unbuilt paper project, this experimental design saw combat, making it an interesting link between prototype development and operational wartime armour.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Unless otherwise stated these models will need some construction and painting. Glues and paints are not included.
