The Tiger I Late Production represents the final evolution of Germany’s most feared tank — the later-production vehicles incorporating the Zimmerit anti-magnetic paste, the improved commander’s cupola with periscopes, and the steel-tyred road wheels that replaced the rubber-rimmed type as rubber shortages bit into German production in 1944. Late Tigers were still armed with the same devastating 88mm KwK 36 gun that could defeat any Allied tank at combat ranges, but were increasingly outnumbered and outmanoeuvred by the weight of Allied materiel. Trumpeter’s 1/72 kit captures the late-production Tiger with accurate hull details and marking options for the final year of the type’s service on both fronts.
