The BZ-38 was a Soviet aircraft refuelling tanker on the ZIS-6 6x4 truck chassis, providing mobile fuel replenishment to Red Army Air Force aircraft on forward airstrips throughout the war. Airfield support vehicles of this type were essential to the functioning of Soviet air operations — without mobile fuel trucks able to reach aircraft on improvised forward strips, the massive expansion of Soviet air power from 1942 onwards could not have been sustained. The 1/48 scale makes this an ideal companion piece for Soviet aircraft models in diorama settings. UM Models’ kit captures this important airfield support vehicle.
