The GAZ-AAA was the Soviet Union’s standard 6x4 cargo truck of the 1930s and war years — a three-axle development of the GAZ-AA two-axle lorry based on the Ford Model AA, produced in large numbers at the Gorky Automobile Plant and serving as the workhorse of Soviet logistics, artillery towing, and as the platform for numerous specialist vehicles including the BM-13 Katyusha rocket launcher. The GAZ-AAA appears in Soviet photographs of every campaign from the Winter War to Berlin and represented the motorisation of the Red Army that was essential to Soviet operational success in the later war years. UM Models’ 1/48 kit captures this ubiquitous Soviet truck in a scale suited to diorama use.
