The M4A4 Sherman was powered by the Chrysler A57 Multibank engine — five car engines joined together on a common crankshaft, a solution that was mechanically complex but drew on readily available automotive production capacity. The M4A4’s longer hull to accommodate this engine makes it immediately distinguishable from other Sherman variants. The M4A4 was the primary Sherman variant supplied to Britain as the “Sherman V” and to China, and saw extensive British service in northwest Europe from D-Day to the end of the war. UM Models’ 1/72 kit captures the distinctive longer-hulled M4A4 in compact scale.
