The Bristol Brigand B.Mk.1 was the light bomber variant of the Brigand — a powerful twin-Centaurus strike aircraft that served the RAF in its overseas commands in the late 1940s and early 1950s, most notably during the Malayan Emergency where Brigands flew ground attack sorties against communist guerrilla positions in the jungle. The “RAF Overseas” marking schemes applied to Brigands in Aden, Malaya, and the Far East reflect the type’s career as an imperial policing and counter-insurgency aircraft in the twilight of the post-war empire. In 1/144 scale, Valom’s kit captures this distinctive twin-Centaurus strike aircraft in compact form.
