The Handley Page Hereford was the Napier Dagger-engined variant of the Hampden — visually almost identical to the standard Bristol Pegasus-powered aircraft but distinguished by the narrow-angle Dagger engines that gave it a different exhaust note and somewhat different handling characteristics. The Dagger-engined version was built in parallel with the standard Hampden but proved less successful in service, with the engines requiring more maintenance, and most Herefords were converted to Hampden standard or used for training. In 1/144 scale, Valom’s kit offers the Hereford as a compact shelf model or wargaming piece in the small scale suited to multi-aircraft displays.
